Weddings

God isn’t only for “religious" people – and neither is St Nicolas’ Church! We are here for everyone.

WEDDINGS

Getting married at St Nicolas' Church

When a couple decide to get married we would love St Nicolas’ to be the special place where you celebrate it.

We have prepared this leaflet of useful information.

To arrange a wedding, please contact the Parish Office by email or by phone 01483 564526.

There are rules that govern whether you can be married at a particular church. It may be possible to have your wedding here if one of you lives in our parish, or is on the church electoral roll, or if one of you:

was baptised here; or

was confirmed through St Nicolas' Church; or

have at any time had your usual place of residence in the parish for at least 6 months; or

have at any time habitually attended St Nicolas' Church for at least 6 months.

OR

you or your partner's parent has at any time during their lifetime

had his or her usual residence in the parish for at least 6 months; or

habitually attended St Nicolas' Church for at least 6 months

OR

your parent or grandparent was married in the parish.

The Church of England's website has a lot of useful information about getting married.

Getting married elsewhere

If you live in the parish and are getting married in another Church of England Church, your Banns need to be called at St Nicolas' on three Sundays. Please contact the Parish Office by email or on 01483 564526.
